The qualification rounds of India Super Series 2017 got concluded in Siri Fort Sports Complex, New Delhi today.
In Women’s Singles qualifications, all the 4 qualifiers – Rasika Raje, Aruna Prabhudesai, Sai Uttejitha Rao Chukka and Shreyanshi Pardeshi – are from India. It means there will be 12 Indian ladies in Women’s Singles main draw led by crowd favourites PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal.
However, no Indian male shuttler managed to make it to the main draw through qualifiers. 6 Indians feature in Men’s Singles main draw. In Men’s Doubles as well, no Indian pair could make it to the main draw through qualifier. 7 Indian teams feature in Men’s Doubles main draw.
In Women’s Doubles 2 Indian pairs – Mahima Aggarwal-Maneesha K and Shruti Mundada-Anoushka Parikh – qualified for the main draw. That means there will 12 home teams in Women’s Doubles main draw.
In Mixed Doubles also 2 Indian teams managed to cross qualification hurdle – Saurabh Sharma-Anoushka Parikh and Dhruv Kapila-Kuhoo Garg. There will be 4 all Indian teams in main draw of Mixed Doubles and there will also be an Indian-Malaysian combination as Prajakta Sawant partners Malaysia’s Yogendran Krishnan.
Main draw matches start tomorrow.
