Lone Indian left in the contention, Ajay Jayaram played some tremendous badminton to beat in-form Viktor Axelsen of Denmark, ranked 2nd in the world, in three games 9-21 21-14 21-19 to enter quarter-finals of Malaysia Open Super Series Premier 2017.

Viktor Axelsen, who achieved his career-high rank of world no. 2 today did not have a good day on court to celebrate as Ajay Jayaram knocked him out of the Super Series Premier event. Axelsen recently won India Super Series in New Delhi.

Ajay will take on 5th seeded Son Wan Ho of Korea for a place in the semi-finals.
