Ramkumar, Prajnesh give India a 2-0 lead over Uzbekistan in Davis Cup tie

India take a 2-0 lead over Uzbekistan in the Davis Cup Asia Oceania Group 1 Round 2 tie in Bengaluru.

In the first match, India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan defeated Uzbekistan’s Temur Ismailov 6-2,  5-7,  6-2, 7-5 in a three hours long match to give India a 1-0 lead.

In the second match, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, who made his debut for India today, got better of Sanjar Fayziev 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to put India in the driver’s seat with a 2-0 lead.

Tomorrow Rohan Bopanna and Sriram Balaji will take on Farrukh Dustov and Sanjar Fayziev in the doubles match with an aim to seal the win for India.

Winners will  advance to Davis Cup World Group Play-off. This is Mahesh Bhupathi’s first tie as India’s non-playing captain.
