Singapore Super Series 2017: PV Sindhu, Srikanth enter Round 2

World No. 2 PV Sindhu held nerves to beat Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in a gruelling 3-setter by 10-21 21-15 22-20 to enter second round of Singapore Super Series 2017.

Sindhu missed 6 match points before finally converting 7th one in the final game. She will take on Indonesia’s Fitriani Fitriani in the second round.

Kidambi Srikanth also entered second round with a 21-12 21-11 win over Kenta Nishimoto of Japan.

B Sai Praneeth beats Emil Holst of Denmark 17-21 21-7 21-19 in the opener. He will face Qiao Bin of China next.

In Women’s Doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy N defeated higher ranked Yin Loo Lim/Yap Cheng Wen of Malaysia 21-19 21-19 to enter second round. They face world no. 1 Matsutomo/Takahashi for a place in the quarter-finals.

However it was curtains for the campaigns of Verma brothers – Sameer & Sourabh, Ajay Jayaram, Rituparna Das and other doubles pairs.
