“Spiderman” tangled in web: Subrata Paul fails dope test

The veteran Indian goalkeeper and Arjuna Awardee Subrata Paul aka “Spiderman” has failed dope test conducted by National Anti Doping Agency (NADA).

The All India Football Federation (AIFF), to this effect, has received a written communication from the watchdog informing them of the 30 year-old’s sample ‘A’ test results, though it has been reported that the exact substance in question has not been revealed. It is also unknown if the AIFF has suspended the Arjuna Awardee, as the world governing body Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) stipulates a player who fails a drug test must be suspended by his/her federation within a week of the result.

The test was conducted right before India’s departure to Cambodia, on March 18th in Mumbai.
